TCU Volleyball fought hard but fell to the Oklahoma Sooners in four sets on senior day in front of nearly 2,508 fans.

“As always I want to thank our fans,” head coach Jill Kramer said. “The community has really embraced our team and you could feel it. Hats off to OU. I thought they were just tougher than us at the end.”

Strong offensive help lead the Frogs to a first-set victory. Outside hitters élan McCall, Ashley Waggle and Julia Adams each had at least four kills in the set. The team came back from a 22-19 deficit, winning the final six points of the set.

McCall would lead the team with five kills and seven digs in the opening set.

Katie Clark dominated the offense in the second set with six kills on .750 hitting; however, the Sooners would go on a 5-1 run in the set to take a lead and eventually win the set 25-23.

In the third set, another offensive run by the Sooners would lead to an OU win.

Clark again led the team with four kills on 1.000 hitting, but it would not be enough to keep TCU afloat.

The fourth set was the highest-scoring set in program history in the 25-point set era and the highest-scoring set overall since Sept. 30, 2006. The set saw 17 ties and 11 lead changes, but the Sooners would come out on top 36-34 to win the match.

TCU fought off four match points with three kills from Afedo Manyang and two kills from Adams. McCall had seven digs and six kills in the final set. Adams also had six kills in the set.

McCall finished the contest with 16 kills and 17 digs.

“This is the way we’ve wanted to play all year long,” Kramer said. “I was really proud of our performance tonight. Would have liked to see the ball bounce a different way at the end, but I’m really proud of our team. If we keep doing that, great things are going to happen.”
