New Jersey shook by rare earthquake

An earthquake shook East Freehold, New Jersey, on Wednesday morning, according to ABC News.

The 3.1 magnitude earthquake occurred at about 2 a.m. with reports of residents from Philadelphia and New York feeling the shake.

“It would be very surprising for us to see anything more than you know, damaged shelves or picture frames falling off windows,” Robert Sanders, a geophysicist, said about the potential damage.

Only two earthquakes have occurred within 10 miles of this location since 1970.
