Despite Lauren Heard scoring a season-high 27 points and 12 rebounds, the TCU Horned Frogs fell to the Texas Tech Lady Raiders 78-72 in Lubbock on Saturday afternoon.

Heard registered her second double-double of the season and has now scored 20 or more points in 19 games over the course of her career, three of which came this season.

TCU started off strong, leading by as many as 16 points and taking a 20-13 advantage going into the second quarter.

Tech would then go on to outscore the Horned Frogs by eight over the next two quarters, taking a 1-point lead going into the final period. To make things worse, Tech then started the fourth quarter on an 8-2 run.

Crucial free throws for the Lady Raiders late in the fourth quarter would later put the Frogs in the grave. Overall, Tech went 24-of-30 from the free throw line in the game, with 24 of its free throw attempts coming in the final three quarters.

TCU held Texas Tech to just 28% shooting from the floor in the first half, but the Lady Raiders would go on to shoot 53, 50 and 40% in the final three quarters, respectively.

The loss drops TCU to 4-2 overall and 0-2 in the Big 12.

TCU will finish nonconference play with a home game against Oral Roberts University this Tuesday, Dec. 22. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. at Schollmaier Arena.
