TCU basketball head coach Jamie Dixon announced via Twitter that he tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday evening.

The tweet came just hours after TCU basketball announced that its Jan. 20 matchup with No. 12 Texas Tech University and Jan. 23 matchup with No. 5 the University of Texas at Austin were both postponed “in accordance with Big 12 Conference men’s basketball interruption guidelines.”

Both events were scheduled as home games for the Horned Frogs.

Dixon is the first head coach within TCU Athletics to be publicly confirmed to have the virus.

This is not the team’s first run-in with COVID-19. Dixon told the media earlier this season that the team “practiced less than anyone in the country” due to contact tracing protocols.

The Big 12 Conference will work to reschedule the games that were postponed, and it remains to be seen whether TCU will be available for its road matchup with No. 9 Kansas on Jan. 26.
