Local band to play at Moon Saturday

Arlington-based band The Hendersons are playing at The Moon Bar Saturday.

“We’ll do a few off Lotosyros,” band member Chris Mansfield said. “And we’ve written a bunch more since then.”

Original band members Nolan Robertson and Josh Mayo produced “Lotosyros” over GarageBand by themselves. The the band has added three more members; Mansfield, Taylor Bell and Hayden Miller.

The Hendersons were also nominated for Best Acoustic/Folk/Psychedelia Band of the Year and their track “Red Lotus” was nominated for Song of the Year by the magazine Fort Worth Weekly.

The band has a psychedelic dream pop vibe reminiscent of The Beatles’ “Magical Mystery Tour” album that can be heard in “Lotosyros” and more so on “The King” which is featured exclusively on

The Hendersons’ Facebook page Mansfield said. Mansfield also credited the band’s newer sound to more recent member Taylor Bell.
Robertson said the band will also be playing a cover of The Beatles’ Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds at the show.

The Hendersons are under Euphio Records label and frequently play venues in Fort Worth and Arlington. They were most recently featured at the 2011 Summer Swansong in Arlington with eight other local bands.
