C-USA officials are not taking action regarding Saturday’s game

Conference-USA officials do not plan to issue a public statement regarding the officiating in Saturday’s TCU-SMU game.

C-USA Assistant Commissioner for Public Affairs Courtney Morrison Archer confirmed in an email Wednesday that the conference reviewed the game, as it does every game, but it does not anticipate any further action taken on the issue.

Those plans run contrary to what Head Coach Gary Patterson had thought was going to happen.

Patterson claimed Tuesday at his weekly press luncheon that C-USA told him they would issue a formal statement apologizing for what appeared to be a one-sided game called by the referees Saturday. But as of Tuesday, the conference had issued no such statement, so Patterson took matters into his own hands.

“I was told the commissioner of the Conference-USA called and said he was publicly going to say something,” Patterson said. “But up to this point he hadn’t, so I did.”

As of Wednesday evening, TCU Athletics could not be reached to confirm whether or not C-USA officials had originally intended to issue a statement.
