Slideshow: Super Frog’s big day

Fifth-year senior Chris Dennard guessed 70 years old. Sophomore Valerie Hedger guessed 35. Hint: Both guesses are too high.

SuperFrog will celebrate his birthday Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the library mall in East Campus. In his first Homecoming-related birthday event, SuperFrog will give out 1,800 free cupcakes.

Student Activities Coordinator Brett Phillips said SuperFrog might not want to release his age.
“We might not mention his age because we know he might be embarrassed,” Phillips said.

Phillips and the student activities team are planning a huge cupcake mosaic for the event. The current plan features purple cupcakes forming the arched TCU logo and white cupcakes in the background.

“Originally, we wanted to do something like this, [a giant cupcake mosaic of President Obama,] but for our first adventure in cupcake mosaicing, it was a little too big of a feat,” Phillips said.

Hedger, an art history major, said she might stop by the event to honor her beloved mascot.

“I love SuperFrog,” Hedger said. “Every football game, he’s always cheering and showing our school spirit.”

Dennard, a communication and theater double major, said he was intrigued by the offer of cupcakes.

“[SuperFrog] is awesome,” Dennard said. “I’ll try and go for a cupcake.”

Students can join the celebration by singing “Happy Birthday” to SuperFrog at 11:30 a.m.

There will be opportunities for photos, birthday items that people can grab and go and, of course, free cupcakes.

The event involves the campus-wide community, so faculty and staff are free to stop by as well.

And if you plan on guessing his age, SuperFrog was “born” in 1979. You do the math.
