Position running for: President

How long have you been in SGA, and positions held: I have been actively involved with SGA since freshman year serving as Freshman Class Representative, Sophomore Class Representative, and Finance Committee Chair. As a Representative, I co-authored 8 pieces of legislation. Serving as the SGA Treasurer, I built and managed the largest budget in the history of SGA. I have served on AFB for 3 years and was a Frog Aide. My experience makes me the most qualified candidate.

What is one thing you plan to change on campus if elected, and how are you going to do it? I will change student tailgating and add a pep rally before each game. The location will be very important for high attendance. Joining the Big 12, it is very important to make sure all of the students are excited for the game. It will be just like Bowl Games rallies, except on our campus. I will work with the SGA advisors as well as Mike Russell to get these accomplished.

What is one thing you plan to continue? I plan to continue providing bus services for students to away football games. This year we paid for buses to go back and forth for the game at Cowboys stadium. This saves students money and provides them the opportunity to meet more of their fellow Horned Frogs.

What legacy do you hope to leave behind at TCU? As President, I will leave this university better than when I arrived as a freshman. The legacy I will leave is keeping TCU one of the top nations with the best college experience. I want to make sure that SGA hears the needs of the students and to get each one accomplished. I want to continue doing the things we are great at, but provide future students with even more opportunities when they arrive.

Saman Sandeghi
Major: Economics and Political Science
Hometown: Ventura, California

Classification: Junior

How long have you been in SGA, and positions held: I have been in SGA for five semesters. I have served as a representative for the AddRan College of Liberal Arts in the SGA House. I have served on the Dining Services Committee as a member and an Administrative Assistant for three semesters. I have served on the Academic Affairs Committee for three semesters. I have been a member of the Finance Committee for two semesters.

What is one thing you plan to change on campus if elected, and how are you going to do it? I will work to expand the quality and availability of dining on campus. Since 2006, four locations have closed (Jazzman’s Café, Eden’s, Deco Deli , and Pond St. Grill) while only one location has been added (1873 Café). I will propose and work to add another dining facility (such as a restaurant or café) on campus, offer convenient swipe at more locations, and offer a To-Go option at Market Square.

What is one thing you plan to continue? 
As TCU enters the Big 12, I plan to continue boosting our purple pride and spirit. I will work to have a student tailgate and pep-rally on game days and provide free bus rides for students to travel to away football games in the region. Also, I will continue to make SGA serve students through a weekly President’s Luncheon where students can come and share their ideas with me and SGA members.
 

What legacy do you hope to leave behind at TCU? In fall 2009, I introduced legislation to create a new tradition called Frogs First with the goal of uniting our community through the mentality that before we associate with anything else, we are all Frogs First. I hope to leave behind a legacy that I worked to unite and strengthen our Horned Frog community and truly represented and served the interests of all students through Student Government.

Graham McMillan
Major: Political Science
Hometown: Colleyville, TX
Classification: Sophomore
Position running for: Vice President of External Relations

How long have you been in SGA, and positions held: A year and a half, since I first came to TCU. I have held the positions of Addran Representative and Chaplain for two terms in house, as well as Dining Services Chair, and Chief of Staff sitting on Cabinet and the Executive Board for two terms.

What is one thing you plan to change on campus if elected, and how are you going to do it? I would like to see the TCU campus have a website that keeps the student body informed on the current construction projects and their progress as well as stay informed on what other construction is in consideration for the future. I would work with the physical plant to receive updates and see what projects are coming up as well as update the website accordingly.

What is one thing you plan to continue? I plan to continue TCU’s success in working with the community. Through local non-profits TCU donates countless hours of time and money to serving the community. I would like to continue those relationships as well as create some new ones.

What legacy do you hope to leave behind at TCU? I would like to leave a legacy of being a positive leader who considers the student body first before their own wants and needs.

Joshua Simpson
Major: Entrepreneurial Management & Political Science
Hometown: Sherman, TX
Classification: Junior
Position running for: Vice President of Operations

How long have you been in SGA, and positions held: I’ve been in SGA since my freshman year, when I was a Frog Aide. I’ve represented the Honors College in the House of Student Representatives since my sophomore year. I am currently the Student Relations Committee Chair.

Other organizations you’re involved in: BYX, Neeley Fellows, Honors College, NFSO. Former Resident Assistant.

What is one thing you plan to change on campus if elected, and how are you going to do it? I want to change the perception of SGA as a distant, opaque organization. This will take dedicated work from all members in SGA, but one concrete tool is to publish an Annual Report that details exactly what SGA has accomplished and how it has spent student money.

What is one thing you plan to continue? The current VP, Brett Anderson, has put a lot of effort into marketing SGA to the student body. I want to find the best marketing mix and promotion strategies for conveying the benefits of SGA.

What legacy do you hope to leave behind at TCU? I want to be remembered for matching SGA resources with student needs, and for building SGA’s reputation as an inclusive, responsive, and connected organization that accomplishes big things and puts people first.

David Belpedio
Major: Finance and Entrepreneurial Management Majors, Spanish Minor
Hometown: Overland Park, Kansas
Classification: Sophomore
Position you are running for: Student Body Treasurer

How long have you been in SGA, and positions held: I have served in SGA for the past two semesters. As a freshman, I was selected to be a member of the Frog Aides class of 2014 and was elected to be the Class of 2014 Representative. Currently serving as the Neeley School of Business Representative, I have served as a representative in the House of Representatives for the past two semesters. I have also served on the Student Advancement and Student Relation committee teams.

Other organizations you’re involved in: I am a member of Student Foundation serving as a tour guide for prospective students and families. I work as a desk assistant in the Tom Brown Pete Write apartments providing students with a variety of services. I also am a member of a social fraternity here at TCU.

What is one thing you plan to change on campus if elected, and how are you going to do it? If elected, I am going to work to encourage both SGA and various student organizations to team up and provide the students of TCU with the programs and activities they want to see. While we are fortunate to have such a large budget within SGA, I want to make sure that we set aside funds that will be used for programs that are cosponsored by SGA and student organizations. As treasurer, I will work to supply student organizations the monetary support they need to provide the students of TCU with the programs they want to see.

What is one thing you plan to continue? Our current student body treasurer has done a great job conducting Activities Funding Board. Supporting dozens of student organizations with needed funds, AFB provides monetary support so that the many student organizations here at TCU can continue to function. If elected, I would like to continue doing the same efficient and effective job our current treasurer is demonstrating within AFB. I will make sure that AFB continues to provide funds to the organizations here on campus that are truly in need of our support.

What legacy do you hope to leave behind at TCU? I want to establish a lasting connection between the student body and SGA and the way SGA spends its money. As the contributors to the SGA budget, the student body has the right to understand exactly where the dollars of the SGA budget are going. I want to encourage and promote students to be more connected with SGA, providing their opinions and concerns regarding the budget. Overall, I want to strengthen the relationship between SGA and the student body as a whole and increase the interaction between the two.
