Green leads Frogs to big victory

Junior forward Garlon Green scored 17 points and junior forward Adrick McKinney grabbed 10 rebounds as TCU beat Austin College 103-45 Monday night at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.

With the win, TCU improves to 2-0 on the year after beating Florida Gulf Coast 73-72 in its season opener Friday night.

The Frogs shot 53.1 percent from the field in the first half and got out to a 46-22 lead before the break.

Green scored a team-high 13 points before halftime, including a monster slam assisted by freshman point guard Kyan Anderson, who broke into open court and flipped the ball over his shoulder just before getting to the rim.

The Kangaroos couldn’t recover in the second half, scoring just 23 points on 8-of-34 shooting.

Sophomore guard Ransom Okpala led Austin College with 11 points.

TCU point guard Hank Thorns had a game-high eight assists on the night. Last year, Thorns led the Mountain West Conference with an average of 7.0 assists per game.

McKinney, added 10 points for his first career double-double as a Frog.

Sophomores Amric Fields (11) and Jarvis Ray (12) were the other two Frogs who scored in double figures.

The Frogs will be back in action Friday when they take on Virginia in game one of the Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
