College students seem to have a reliance on caffeine to get them through lectures and late night study sessions, but there are healthier alternatives to power through the day.

Lady Frogs take on Mustangs

The TCU women’s basketball team will face SMU for its annual rivalry game. The 1-1 Lady Frogs will head to Dallas Thursday night for their third game of the season.

Head coach Jeff Mittie said TCU’s familiarity with SMU’s schedule will help the team prepare for the big game.

“I think in knowing someone’s roster, you have to get more familiar with them,” Mittie said. “They played a Little Rock team that we are familiar with, and I think that will give us a good indication.”

SMU beat Arkansas-Little Rock on Monday. With two games into the season, SMU hopes to continue its winning streak against TCU Thursday.

The Lady Frogs lost to Georgia in the season opener but defeated University of Texas-San Antonio 65-30 in its home opener Monday with the help of TCU’s freshmen players.

“We have a lot of young players, so every game is kind of a new adventure,” Mittie said.

Freshman Jazz Parker, who first put on her TCU jersey in this season’s opening game against Georgia, led the team against UTSA with 14 points.

“She’s putting in the work off the court with her shot,” Mittie said. “I think with continued improvement on her shot selection and learning to play harder, Jazz can really help us.”

Sophomore Latricia Lovings scored a career-high 10 points against UTSA.

TCU students should contact the SMU Ticket Office for more information.
