Housing and Residence Life to host stress relieving program

Housing and Residence Life presents “Who You Gonna Call…Stressbusters!,” a program designed to enable Resident Assistants to help students deal with stress in the finals weeks of the semester.

Housing and Residence Life Director Craig Allen said the program was just one of the few in-service trainings offered to resident assistants this fall.

Allen said all the trainings were designed to help the students become better in their RA positions and focus on particular job skills or aspects of the position.

Allen said this program in particular was designed to help participants recognize stress, how to cope with it and how to help students who live on their floors with stress.

“We know that their positions are very stressful, and this is a stressful time of the year as well,” Allen said.

Austin Marple, a sophomore political science and history double major, said he found most of the information sessions for the resident assistants to be helpful. Marple is an RA in freshman residence hall, Foster Hall.

Marple said he was looking forward to tonight’s event and thought he would be able to apply the information to different aspects of his life.

“Aside from getting to know HRL [Housing & Residence Life ] staff better, I am looking forward to learning how to manage the time and the stress that comes with being a full-time student and resident assistant,” Marple said.

“Who You Gonna Call….Stressbusters!” will take place tonight in the Beck Room in the Brown-Lupton University Union at 8 p.m.
