TCU blows past Houston 80-35

Sophomore Briesha Wynn scored a team-high 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the TCU women’s basketball team made quick work of Houston, blowing past the Cougars 80-35 Thursday night at Hofheinz Pavilion.

The win was the Lady Frogs’ second in a row, inching them closer to .500 as they stand 3-4 on the young season. Houston fell to 0-7, continuing a winless season.

Roxana Button led the Cougars with 10 points.

Before going on a 19-2 run, the Lady Frogs trailed 6-1 three minutes into the game and were down 8-7 at the 14:39 mark of the first half.

TCU got out to a commanding 35-18 lead by halftime and extended that lead afterward. The Frogs outscored Houston 45-17 in the second half en route to the victory.

The Lady Frogs shot an impressive 49 percent (22-of-46) from the field as opposed to the Cougars, who made only nine field goals the entire game at a clip of 19 percent (9-of-47).

TCU forced 22 turnovers, and the Lady Frogs’ bench outscored Houston’s 47-10.

TCU will be back in action Sunday when it hosts Lamar at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
