Former TCU OL Marcus Cannon wins Ed Block Courage award

Former TCU offensive lineman Marcus Cannon was honored with the Ed Block Courage Award by his teammates, according to a press release from the New England Patriots.

Cannon was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma after his senior season at TCU, but the Patriots took a chance by drafting him in the fifth round. Cannon ended up appearing in seven games in a reserve role and on special teams.

The award is given to a player "who best exemplifies the principles of courage and sportsmanship while also serving as a source of inspiration," according to the press release.

Cannon and the other Ed Block Courage Award winners will be honored at an annual banquet on March 13.
