Jim Christian Radio Show debuts

The first broadcast of the Jim Christian Radio Show debuted at Buffalo Bros. on Thursday night.

Director of broadcasting and play-by-play announcer Brian Estridge hosted the hour-long radio show. TCU men’s basketball head coach Jim Christian talked about the 2011-12 season and the progress of his team.

The Jim Christian Radio Show also features a player each broadcast. This week’s show featured senior forward Craig Williams. Williams talked about his transition to becoming a Horned Frog after transferring from Temple University.

After defeating the University of Texas-Pan American, the Frogs finished 10-5 in non-conference play for the first time since the 2004-05 basketball season.

“They’ve grown accustomed to playing with each other,” Christian said. “They understand their strengths and non-strengths.”

He said the team’s goal for the year is to become the best team they can be.

“There are challenges within every game,” Christian said. “The greatest obstacle for any player or team is that when it’s not going well you can fight your way out of it. I think we have shown that we can do that.”

He said he is proud of his team. They have shown they can overcome their challenges, Christian said.

”We’ve been in a lot of close games and you learn a lot in close games so that’s one of the things I think we can build upon,” Christian said.

He said he hopes the team is able to play in the Mountain West Conference Championship.

The second half of the season starts this Saturday. TCU will play its first Mountain West Conference game on the road at Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colo.

The next radio show will be on Jan. 26 from 6-7 p.m. All fans are welcome to attend the broadcast at Buffalo Bros. or listen live on 88.7 KTCU.
