Lady Frogs take on Falcons

The TCU women’s basketball team will finish its two-game road trip against Air Force at Clune Arena.

After a strong second half, TCU (9-10 overall, 2-2 MWC) earned a 74-68 win against Boise State last Saturday. For the second time this season, four Lady Frogs scored in double-figures in the game.

The Frogs have been struggling on the road with a 2-4 record but won 16 out of the last 17 games against the Falcons.

TCU and Air Force split the two match ups last season. Air Force won the first game 60-55, and the Horned Frogs came back to defeat the Falcons at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum, 88-51.

“This will be a big game for us at Air Force,” head coach Jeff Mittie said. “We will have to play well after falling at their place last season.”

Air Force (5-14 overall, 0-4 MWC) will be looking for their first conference win. The Falcons are coming off a loss to San Diego State, 75-62.

“We want to improve upon our game at Boise and go get another win on the road,” sophomore center Latricia Lovings said.

Junior guard Alicia Leipprandt is the leading scorer for the Falcons and averages 13.9 points per game. Junior forward Dymond James is the team’s leading rebounder with 7.2 boards per game. She has also averaged in double figures, scoring 12.6 points per game.

James completed her third double-double of the season against San Diego State. She finished the game with 19 points and 11 rebounds. James has nine double-doubles in her career.

Lovings said, “This is a big game for us and we are really excited. This game will set us up well for the remainder of our schedule.”

Lovings leads the Frogs with 5.7 rebounds per game. She also has 65 blocks in her career, holding the No. 4 spot in program history for blocks. Lovings would need two more blocks to earn a spot in the top three in program history.

In the last eight of the last 10 games, freshman guard Natalie Ventress has led TCU in scoring. She leads the Frogs with 11.9 points per game. Ventress has led TCU in scoring 10 times, becoming the only Lady Frog to do so since the 2007-08 season.
Mittie said, “We have a lot of momentum coming into this game after winning at Boise State, so hopefully we can build on that at Air Force.”
