Kevin Cron had three hits and Preston Morrison earned his seventh win of the season, as the TCU baseball team beat New Mexico 5-3 Saturday afternoon at Lupton Stadium.

The game, which started Friday night but was postponed due to bad weather, was the first of a doubleheader between the Horned Frogs and Lobos. Game 2 is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

Morrison (7-0) threw 4.1 innings in relief of Andrew Mitchell, who threw a scoreless first inning Friday night before the game was called. Mitchell is expected to start Sunday.

Morrison gave up three runs on five hits but had a 4-0 lead to work with once he started the top of the second inning.

Jason Coats, Jantzen Witte, Cron and Brett Johnson all had base hit RBIs in the first to give the Frogs their quick start.

The Lobos would respond with two runs in the second and a run in the fourth before the TCU bullpen held them scoreless the rest of the way.

Witte and Derek Odell were the Frogs' other multi-hit performers, both collecting two hits.
