TCU football hires former Miami coach

The TCU football team has hired former Miami (Fla.) coach Randy Shannon as the program's new linebacker coach, the school officially announced Thursday.

Shannon replaces Tony Tademy, who resigned earlier this month.

Rumors regarding Shannon's hire had been circulating for about two weeks. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram initially reported the schools interest in the 46-year-old shortly after Tademy's departure.

HornedFrogBlitz.com's Jeremy Clark confirmed those same rumors earlier this week.

Shannon will head a TCU linebacker unit that was weakened in February by the departure of starter Tanner Brock and further depleted in May, when Deryck Gildon, expected to replace Brock, left the team.
