TCU will increase campus security for the Blake Shelton concert at the Dee J. Kelly Alumni Center & Visitors Center on Thursday evening.
TCU Police Sergeant Alvin Allcon said TCU police, Fort Worth police, and Contemporary Services Corporation event staff will collectively provide security for the event.
Lieutenant Ramiro Abad said that specifics of the security detail could not be discussed, but many of the security details were specified in the performing contract signed with Blake Shelton.
Sgt. Allcon said there are several rules and procedures that students and concert attendees will be required to follow.
All students must have a wristband for entry. According to an email from Allcon, students can pick up a wristband on Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the Dee J. Kelly Alumni & Vistors Center lawn.
Once an attendee has entered the gates, they will not be permitted to re-enter after they leave.
Sgt. Allcon provided a list of prohibited items that will be screened at the bag check. The list of prohibited items is as follows:
Aerosol spray cans
Artificial Noise Makers (air horns, cow bells, etc.)
Glass or Metal Beverage Containers
Hard Sided Bags
Outside Food or Beverages
Weapons of any kind
According to Allcon, the main entrance to the concert will be in Frog Alley across from the Brown-Lupton University Union. Bag check lanes will be at the entrance, he said.
The university will provide water to all patrons at the event.
Both the TCU athletics office and the TCU Office of Community Projects are running the event. Margaret Kelly, TCU’s Executive Director of Community Projects, was not immediately available for comment.
Concertgoers are encouraged to arrive early to the event. Students are permitted to bring lawn chairs to the event, but those with chairs must sit in Lot Six, located between the Kelly Center and the Amon G. Carter stadium. Allcon said that lawn chairs are not allowed on the Kelly Center lawn.
The concert will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday.
