The T buses to run every 15 minutes to TCU home football games

The T will operate more buses, with more frequent service on Route 7/University to and from TCU’s Big 12 Conference home games.

For the Grambling State night game, TRE also will add a late eastbound train across the corridor to Dallas, departing from the T&P Station at 11 p.m. and the Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) at 11:05 p.m.

“We hope that people will take advantage of The T’s high frequency Route 7/University service for TCU’s home games to avoid traffic congestion and overflow parking lots due to the sell-out crowds of 45,000 people anticipated for TCU’s Big 12 Conference games,” The T’s President Dick Ruddell said.

With a “TCU Football Game” sign added to bus headboards, the game-day Route 7/University buses will depart every 15 minutes from the ITC starting three hours before the official game time. They will resume 15-minute frequency for at least an hour after the game.

On game days, Route 7/University will also make a loop around the T&P Station Park and Ride Lot south of the TRE station at 200 W. Vickery to pick up TRE passengers, parkers, or riders at the Vickery Street bus stop.

The TRE’s T&P Station Park & Ride Lot, which has 351 spaces, also will be available free to people in Fort Worth who want to take the Route 7/University bus to the game from there.

Those in the downtown area may use The T’s free Molly the Trolley to reach the ITC at Jones & 9th Street. It circulates every 15 minutes along Main & Houston Streets with stops near major hotels.

Trip time by Route 7/University bus from the ITC to TCU is approximately 25 minutes.

Bus riders may purchase a Local Day Pass at the information kiosk inside the ITC or onboard the bus. Exact change is required on the bus. Cost is $3 round-trip and $1.50 for those qualifying for a reduced fare. Bus fares also are covered with a valid TRE Day Pass, a Local multi-Day Pass, E-Pass or TCU Transit Pass.

The T will provide this service for all TCU home games this year:

  • Sept. 8 – Grambling State
  • Sept. 22 – Virginia
  • Oct. 6 – Iowa State
  • Oct. 20 – Texas Tech
  • Nov. 10 – Kansas State
  • Dec. 1 – Oklahoma

Customers may call The T at 817-215-8600 or visit the-t.com for more information.
