The university made the honor roll by excelling in 11 out of 12 categories.  The categories included diversity, teaching environment and job satisfaction according to The Chronicle's website. Out of the entire rankings only 30 four-year colleges, of different sizes, made the honor roll list. 

Kim Weber, chair of the university staff assembly, said The Chronicle of Higher Education hires a third party company to conduct the survey.  The entire survey is anonymous, so the answers cannot be traced back to the staff or faculty member.

“This is the only survey that TCU participates in and sends out to staff, so I felt like it had more credence,” Weber said. “And it's random, so not everyone receives it. I received one last year and completed it, but I knew I could say whatever I wanted and it would not be matched back to me.”

Students were pleased with knowing their school was ranked. Adrienne Esposito, a junior ballet major, said that it was motivating and intriguing knowing the faculty are so passionate and excited about working for TCU.

Marie Schein, chair of Faculty Senate, said the ranking was an incredible booster shot of pride and motivation as they began the new school year. The ranking was a call for everyone on campus to continue to work hard together.

Shein said The Chronicle of Higher Education is a respectable organization and the survey is important.

“This means our hard work was noticed, but it’s not an end,” Schein said. “This is the beginning of the next chapter, which means we have to continue to work together to move forward to be better in the future.”
