Head baseball coach’s contract extended two years

Head baseball coachs contract extended two years

TCU baseball head coach Jim Schlossnagle signed a two-year contract extension Monday to stay on staff through the 2018 season.

"Jim Schlossnagle defines what TCU is about," TCU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Chris Del Conte said in a press release. "He has done a phenomenal job in representing our institution and making our baseball program an important part of the Fort Worth community.”

Schlossnagle’s selection to Team USA’s coaching staff shows the respect he has earned on a national level, Del Conte said.

Schlossnagle said he and his family want to remain a part of the Horned Frog community.

“I am eternally thankful to Chancellor [Victor] Boschini and Chris Del Conte for their unending support of the baseball program and our staff,” he said in a press release.

Since his arrival in 2003, Schlossnagle led TCU to the postseason every season. He won more games (388) in nine years than any coach in TCU history.

Schlossnagle is 388-175 (.689) over his nine years at TCU. He holds a 465-222 (.677) record in 11 years as a head coach.

Last season, the Frogs reached their third super regional in four years and posted a 40-22 record. They have won 40 or more games for six straight seasons.

The Frogs have won a conference championship every year under Scholssnagle. TCU claimed the conference tournament twice in the Conference USA. The Frogs won the regular season conference titles all seven years they competed in the Mountain West in addition to four conference tournament titles.

Schlossnagle led the Frogs to nine NCAA Regionals, three NCAA Super Regionals and the program’s first-ever trip to the College World Series in 2010.

Thirty-eight TCU players have been drafted with Schlossnagle as coach and in 2010, pitcher Matt Purke was named National Freshman of the Year.
