Head volleyball coach juggles motherhood and coaching

Head volleyball coach Prentice Lewis has two demanding jobs: Being a coach and a mother.

Lewis gave birth to her daughter Landry in February 2011.

Lewis said she has done well juggling motherhood and coaching, but that she struggled with sleeping and balancing her time.

Getting enough rest was not easy because Landry often did not sleep through the night, Lewis said.

“I think that’s the hard part, just balancing the time you’re [at work] and getting to rest, as well as getting time to prepare your team for what you need to get them ready,” Lewis said.

The team travels to over ten matches a season, and Landry will be there for each game, cheering for TCU.

Landry is already a Horned Frog fan, Lewis said.

Lewis said she thinks the team enjoys having Landry at matches and practices.

Mattie Burleson, a sophomore middle blocker and outside hitter, said, “I love Landry coming to the games, I love Landry at practice, [and] I love Landry when we’re traveling.”

The Lady Frogs' next outing will be Oct. 20 in Lawrence, Kan., where they will take on the University of Kansas Jayhawks.
