Placekicker Jaden Oberkrom earned a semifinalist spot for the Lou Groza Award presented to the nation’s top placekicker.

Oberkrom has hit 15-of-20 field goals and 36-of-36 extra-point attempts. His 1.67 field goals per game rank second in the Big 12 and tie for eighth nationally.

The Arlington native ranks No. 2 nationally among freshman kickers with 81 points. Duke’s Ross Martin leads with 83.

Oberkrom tied an NCAA freshman record and set TCU and Big 12 records with six field goals against Texas Tech. His 23 points against the Red Raiders broke TCU and Big 12 single-game scoring records for a kicker.

The freshman’s 50-yard field goal against Iowa State was the longest make by a Frog since 2008.

Former Frog kicker Michael Reeder won the Lou Groza Award in 1995.
