The TCU women’s basketball faced unforced turnovers, miscommunication and foul trouble in the first half of tonight’s game against the Charlotte 49ers.
TCU currently trails 45-38 at halftime.
The Frogs’ 2-3 zone could did not account for Charlotte’s shooters, as Jai Forney and Hillary Sigmon got behind the zone for multiple 3-pointers.
Charlotte senior forward Amanda Dowe used her height and length to score 10 points and grab six rebounds—three of those on the offensive glass.
During a two-minute stretch between the 14- and 12-minute mark in the first half, the Frogs turned the ball over three consecutive times—two of those on offensive fouls—which led to two baskets for the 49ers.
Senior forward Delisa Gross was benched early with two fouls and junior Latricia Lovings was benched at the 8-minute mark with three.
All of these factors led to a 14-2 run for the 49ers from about the 7-minute mark to the 12-minute mark.
Whitney William’s 3-pointer with 2:40 left brought TCU within two, 40-38, but the team went scoreless for the rest of the half.
Freshmen Kamy Cole and Zahna Medley led the Frogs in the first half with 13 and eight points, respectively.
