Loud music, cheering and anticipation filled the air surrounding Amon G. Carter Stadium Saturday morning as the excited crowd of purple and crimson prepared for the university’s last home game of the year.

Most tailgates were mixed with Horned Frog and Sooner fans who were eating, drinking and making bets with each other before the big game.

“I’ll bet you $20 that OU beats TCU,” Oklahoma University alumna Calley Williams said to her boyfriend. He took on the bet with confidence in the Frogs.

OU senior Lindsay Green came down from Norman, Okla. to cheer on the Sooners.

“Being from Fort Worth, I have always rooted for TCU growing up,” Green said. “That is not the case for this game.”

Green said she has many friends who go to TCU and thought it would be fun to come down for the game and a visit to Yucatan Taco Stand.

Many fans were taking pictures of the stadium and the large crowd that surrounded it.

“I haven’t seen the new stadium yet,” Williams said. “It’s much bigger and nicer than it was last time I was here.”

Since the game started at 11 a.m., some started tailgating as early as 8.

TCU alumna Sydney Burgess said her best friend proposed to his girlfriend early this morning on a party bus going to tailgate.

“We picked up kolaches, orange juice and champagne for them,” Burgess said. “It was cool because all of her TCU friends and all of his OU friends were there.”

She said yes.

OU fan John Randall was tailgating at his son-in-law's mixed tailgate hours before kickoff.

“There’s a lot of purple here,” Randall said. “The energy here is great.”
