Construction on the Bass Building parking lot resulted in the addition of a new shuttle stop outside Smith Hall for the TCU campus shuttles.

Fewer students are riding the shuttle, Angelia Franklin, shuttle bus driver and supervisor, said. She attributed the decrease in riders to the construction in the Bass parking lot.

“We don’t have as many riders as we normally would,” Franklin said. “They’re pretty much walking or parking elsewhere now."

Some students did not know where the new stop is located, Nicole Makrakis, a senior biology major, said. Makrakis said she found the new shuttle stop when she recognized one of the drivers.

“It was pretty hard to find. I thought they just quit doing it, honestly,” Makrakis said.

Andrew Read, a first-year business major, said he thought other students did not know the shuttle stops changed at all or would have found out by reading the newspaper or watching the news.

Some students found the new stop and said it had a positive impact on their shuttle ride.

“It’s actually made it [the shuttle ride] a little better because I get dropped off right in front of the building I need to be in for my first class, so it’s worked out perfectly,” Selina Lopez, a sophomore fashion merchandising major, said.

However, the red line might operate slightly slower than usual because of the construction, Franklin said.

“Sometimes, yes, because of the construction, all the trucks out there in the middle of the street, the students walking across the street, the students in their cars. So once we get in the Smith area and the Bass area, it can get pretty busy,” Franklin said.
