The TCU women’s tennis team improved to 6-1 after its match win against Arizona Friday.

This is the sixth time the teams matched up and the first time the Frogs won. They also won their third straight game and their seventh home game.

The Frogs took the first point in doubles by claiming all three matches.

“I guess I can call them the cardiac kids,” TCU coach Dave Borelli said. “The key is the doubles. We’re playing great doubles and that was the difference again today. I’m really proud of Kelsey. She used to play that way at Arkansas and pull that kind of stuff off. It’s good to see the magic come back.”

The Wildcats took the lead during the single matches but TCU’s Olivia Smith evened the score with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Wildcats Kim Stubbe.

Federica Denti followed with a 6-0, 7-6 win against Akilah James.

Wildcats Laura Oldham was able to tie the game with a win over Simona Parajova.

TCU’s Kelsey Sundaram clinched a win with a 6-3, 5-7 and 6-1 match against Inge Hendrikx.

The Frog’s will travel to North Texas Wednesday for their first road match of the season. Match time is set for 2 p.m. in Denton.
