The university women’s tennis team is back in action this weekend as it travels to Houston to play the Cougars Saturday.

The team grabbed its second Big 12 win Sunday when it beat Iowa State 6-0. The Horned Frogs improved to 11-1 on the year and 2-0 in Big 12 play. The win was the eighth in a row for the 27th-ranked Frogs.

“We’re getting better, and we got great production from the bottom of the lineup, which is what we’re going to need to be successful as the year progresses,” head coach Dave Borelli said.

Simona Parajova, a sophomore, was named a TCU Athlete of the Week for her performance against Iowa State and West Virginia last week.

Parajova beat Hailey Barrett of West Virginia in two sets (6-0, 6-2) on March 15, and beat Meghan Cassens of Iowa State in three (6-4, 5-7, 6-0). Parajova and junior Monika Sirilova also won their doubles match against West Virginia 8-4.

The Houston Cougars are coming off their fourth shutout of the season after winning 7-0 against Western Michigan. The team is 12-5 on the season and earned its sixth win in a row against UALR Wednesday.

The match is set to start at 1 p.m. at the Houston Country Club.
