Big 12 baseball tournament to start a day late in response to Oklahoma tornadoes

The Phillips 66 Big 12 Championships baseball tournament scheduled to start on Wednesday in Oklahoma City will now begin on Thursday as a result of the tornado that hit Moore, Okla., according to a press release.

In addition to the delay, the pool play format will be used instead of the double-elimination format. There will be two pools; one in which TCU, Oklahoma State, Kansas and West Virginia will play and another one in which K-State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Baylor will play. The team with the best record in each pool will play in the final game on Sunday.

The Horned Frogs will open the tournament against Oklahoma State on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. They will continue play on Friday against West Virginia at 4 p.m. The final game of pool play is expected to take place on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.

The tournament will be aired on Fox College Sports while Sunday’s championship game can be seen on FSN at 1 p.m.
