The Londoner Pub & Grill, a restaurant sitting in construction for more than a year on University Drive, will hopefully be opened by the end of July, a representative from the restaurant said.

The pub and grill has a completion date in sight but it is not set in stone, Andrew Hawkes, the representative, said.

“We’re unsure at this point,” Hawkes said. “[The] Colleyville [location] had to open up first and they’ve been delayed and over budget by $100,000.”

Hawkes is currently the general manager of the Allen location, but will become the general manager of the Fort Worth location once it opens.

The Londoner’s Fort Worth location will be the seventh in Texas after its Colleyville site opens. The other five locations include AllenAddisonFriscoGreenville, and Uptown Dallas.

“We’re striving to get that thing open as quickly as possible, especially before school opens,” Hawkes said.

The Londoner is located at 3201 South University Drive, directly next door to University House, a student apartment complex previously named The Vue.

According to a post from The Londoner's lease agency, Transwestern, The Londoner was slated to open during summer 2012. Transwestern leased The Londoner in January 2012.

The restaurant will offer British and American cuisine, dozens of domestic and imported beers and a full bar of seasonal cocktails. It will also include dartboards, pool tables and high-definition televisions, Hawkes said.

Hawkes said that the Fort Worth location will include an outside patio. He also said there is a possibility of installing skeeball machines and establishing a skeeball league at the Fort Worth location.

Despite the absence of a opening date, several people have written on the Facebook page for the restaurant's Fort Worth location in the past few months, expressing excitement for the new venue and asking questions on construction progress.

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission’s website lists The Londoner’s liquor license as active from January 2, 2013 until January 1, 2015.

“Fort Worth is growing leaps and bounds and it has lots of demands,” Hawkes said. “I think one of those is an English pub.”

According to the official website for the Fort Worth location, “It will be long, it will be hard, it will be worth the wait…”
