TCU assistant baseball coach Tony Vitello will be leaving the Horned Frogs for an assistant coaching position with the Arkansas Razorbacks, according to an email from the coach.

Vitello said in an email that "[It's] tough to leave TCU. Good opportunity in Arkansas though."

Arkansas spokesman Chad Crunk said there was no official hire as of Monday, but said "anything could happen" over the next week. A spokeperson from TCU athletics department declined to make a statement.

TCU sophomore pitcher Alex Young tweeted about Vitello leaving the program and head coach Jim Schlossnagle responded, writing that "the program is bigger than all of us."

Vitello primarily served as the recruiting coordinator for the TCU baseball program, and coached at the university for three years. He served eight years at the University of Missouri before arriving at TCU.

Vitello recruited player classes which included players such as 2013 All-America Freshmen Boomer White and Alex Young, All-American Preston Morrison and Team USA pitcher Brandon Finnegan.

Baseball America ranked Vitello's 2011 recruiting class as a top-10 recruiting class in the nation.

As an assistant, Vitello helped to coach the Horned Frogs to a Super Regional in 2012 and an NCAA Regional in 2011.
