Fred’s Texas TCU will open in the space formerly occupied by the Love Shack and Oui Lounge on Bluebonnet Circle, according to a Monday press release.

The TCU-area restaurant will be Fred’s third location, as the restaurant will retain its properties on 915 Currie Street and 2730 Western Center. The owners, Terry Chandler and Quincy Wallace, expressed their excitement about the new restaurant and hope to preserve some aspects of the Oui Lounge, which first opened in 1952.

"We have total respect for the heritage behind The Oui Lounge – we fully plan to incorporate some of the historical elements from the Oui in the new Fred's Texas TCU,” Chandler said.

According to a report by Fort Worth Weekly in June, chef Tim Love’s Love Shack closed after “the landlord and Love couldn’t agree on a direction for the place.”

The property’s owners hope Fred’s TCU will bring revitalization to the space.

"We couldn't be more excited that Terry and Quincy will be bringing the Fred’s brand to the TCU area,” said Kyle Paulson, managing partner for the property owners. "Fred's is an institution – it will be an incredible addition to the area and Bluebonnet Circle."

Chandler and Wallace hope to open the new restaurant by the start of football season, according to reports.
