Report: Karviar Shepherd eligible for 2013 season

Head men's basketball coach Trent Johnson confirmed freshman Karviar Shepherd's eligibility  for the 2013-2014 season, according to a report from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Shepherd, a four-star recruit and graduate of Deion Sanders' Dallas Prime Prep Academy, was ruled ineligible by the NCAA earlier in the month due to academic reasons.

The charter school, founded by former NFL and MLB player Sanders, is a magnet school for aspiring athletes.

Shepherd is said to have appealed his ineligibility. An ESPN top-100 basketball recruit, he is projected to be TCU's starting center for the upcoming season.
