The TCU volleyball team is traveling to Iowa Saturday to finish up the first round of Big 12 Conference play against Iowa State.

The Horned Frogs (13-8, 2-5 Big 12) have never topped Iowa State (11-6, 5-2 Big 12) in program history. This is the third time the teams have met, with the Cyclones beating the Frogs in sweeps both times last season.

TCU is coming off a five-set loss to Oklahoma on Wednesday, the team’s third five-set defeat in Big 12 Conference play.

Freshman outside hitter Ashley Smith led the Frogs with 17 kills, followed by senior middle blocker Yvonne Igodan with 12 and freshman middle blocker Natalie Gower with 11. Freshman libero Shane Peters recorded the most digs in a match of her career with 27 in the loss, while sophomore setter Alexia Heist chipped in 26 assists.

Iowa State is coming off its first win over a ranked opponent in the 2013-2014 season after beating No. 22 Kansas in five sets on Wednesday.

Iowa State senior libero Kristen Hahn, who leads the Big 12 in digs, finished the match with 35 digs in the win. Sophomore setter Jenelle Hudson chipped in 52 assists. Senior middle blocker Tenisha Matlock led the team with a match-high 18 kills, while junior outside hitter Victoria Hurtt and freshman outside hitter Ciara Capezio also finished with double digit kills, 14 and 12 respectively.
