Volleyball falls to No. 1 Texas

Despite a strong effort by the TCU volleyball team, the No. 1 Texas Longhorns came up with their seventh straight win over the Frogs on Wednesday in Gregory Gym.

The Horned Frogs (13-10, 2-7 Big 12) took a set from the Longhorns for the first time in program history from the Longhorns (16-2, 9-0 Big 12), but fell in four sets (14-25, 25-20, 15-25, 23-25).

Four players led the team in kills, as junior middle blocker Mattie Burleson, sophomore right-side hitter Blaire Pickens, junior right-side hitter Stephanie Holland and freshman outside hitter Ashley Smith all r liberoecorded eight kills. Sophomore setter Alexia Heist chipped in 18 assists and freshman Shane Peters added 13 digs.

For the Longhorns, junior outside hitter Haley Eckerman led the team offensively with 24 kills in the match, while senior outside hitter Bailey Webster followed with 13 kills. Freshman setter Chloe Collins chipped in 33 assists and senior libero Sarah Palmer added 18 digs.

TCU will head back to the University Recreation Center to play Kansas on Saturday. First serve is set for noon.
