By the Numbers: Iowa State


    TCU and Iowa State will face off for the fifth time overall and the second time in Ames, Iowa. Below are 15 facts and figures about the game:

    6: Players nationally who have had 100 yards rushing and 100 yards receiving in games this season, including TCU’s Trevone Boykin. Boykin is the only player to have a 200-yard passing game as well.

    6: Touchdown receptions for Iowa State’s leading receiver Quenton Bundrage. David Porter leads TCU receivers with three scoring catches.

    11: Touchdowns thrown by Iowa State quarterback Sam Richardson. Richardson averaged 173.5 yards per game and 55.3 completion percentage.

    17: Interceptions by the TCU defense this season. This ranks second nationally and first in the Big 12. The Frogs have turned the ball over 22 times which is tied for worst in the Big 12 (Texas Tech).

    26: Sacks by the TCU defense which leads the conference. TCU faces an Iowa State defense that has given up a conference-worst 28. The Frogs have allowed 20 sacks.

    36: Number of defended passes by cornerback Jason Verrett since 2012. He has eight interceptions and 28 pass break up in that stretch. 

    39: Career touchdown passes by Pachall which is fourth in TCU’s career list. Pachall is one scoring toss shy of tying Sammy Baugh (1934-36) for third all time.

    40: Pass completions by quarterback Casey Pachall against West Virginia. The 40 completions rank second all-time in a single game at TCU.

    42: Number of touchdowns given up by the Iowa State defense (2 defensive TD’s). The Cyclones haven’t held an opponent under 20 points all season.

    65: Length, in yards, of Kirby Van Der Camp’s longest punt this season. The Cyclones punter is a preseason All-Big 12 First Team member and appeared on the Ray Guy Award Watch List for the second straight season.

    93: Number of tackles by Cyclone’s linebacker Jeremiah George. George ranks No. 1 in the Big 12 followed by teammate Jacques Washington (77). Chris Hackett leads the Frogs with 63 tackles (14th in Big 12).

    119.9: Average rushing yards per game for TCU, worst in the Big 12. Iowa State sits at No. 8 with 133.5 yards.

    1998: Last time TCU played football in Ames, Iowa. Head coach Gary Patterson appeared in his first game on the Frogs’ sideline as defensive coordinator against the Cyclones. The Frogs won 31-21.

    3-1: Overall series lead for TCU over Iowa State. The Frogs dropped last year’s battle 37-23 in Fort Worth.
