Currently riding a two-game winning streak, the TCU men’s basketball team (2-2) heads to the University of Alaska-Anchorage for the 2013 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout.

The tournament, which has been in existence for over 20 years, features teams from across the country during the week of Thanksgiving.

This year, in addition to TCU, some notable participants include Tulsa (0-4), Harvard (4-1) and Pepperdine (4-1).

Last year, the Charlotte 49ers won the tournament by beating the Northeastern Huskies 67-59 in the finals. The last Big 12 school to win the tournament was Kansas in 1999.

The Frogs are coming off an impressive 64-62 road win over Washington State on Sunday night, which featured the return of junior forward Amric Fields.

“This is a good team we beat tonight,” TCU head coach Trent Johnson told the AP after the game. “He helped.”

Fields, who tore his ACL early last season, scored 16 points off the bench for TCU in his return.

“When I learned that I was going to be able to play today, I just wanted to leave it all on the court and help my team,” Fields said after the game.

According to the official tournament bracket, the Frogs are scheduled to face the hometown Alaska Anchorage Seawolves (5-1) first. Then, they’ll face either Tulsa or Indiana State (3-1), depending on the results of the first round.

The Seawolves have played TCU twice all-time. The last time the two teams met was in 1996 and the Frogs won 124-78 in Fort Worth.

Tip-off for TCU’s game against Alaska Anchorage is scheduled for 1:00 a.m. CST Thursday morning.
