The TCU women’s basketball team saw its chance for a three game winning streak go out the window Wednesday night, as they fell to the Kansas Jayhawks 62-53 in Lawrence . 

Last time TCU and Kansas met, the Frogs rallied from a double-digit lead in the final five minutes of the game, eeking out a 52-50 win. This time around, TCU had the tables turned on them.

In the first half, the Frogs used hot shooting from sophomore guard Zahna Medleyto jump out to an early 26-16 lead. 

Much like TCU did in the team’s first meeting in January, Kansas battled back, cutting the deficit to just four at the half. 

TCU’s shooting went cold early in the second period, as it was not until a Medley 3-pointer at the 14:34 mark of the half that TCU put another point on the board.

The Frogs did rally late in the second half, as a steal and 3-point play from junior forward Chelsea Prince sliced KU’s lead to just six with 3:41 left on the clock.

A drive and layup by junior forward Natalie Ventress would cut the deficit to just two, but Kansas forward Natalie Knight responded with a finger roll of her own to squash the Frog rally.

Senior center Latricia Lovings provided a silver lining in the loss, tallying 2 blocks, 9 rebounds and four points.

The game marked her sixty-third straight game with a block, breaking TCU alum Sandora Irvin’s record of 62. 

TCU will next hit the court Sunday, February 16 against the No. 13 West Virginia Mountaineers in Morgantown. Tip-off is set for 12:00 p.m.
