The TCU baseball team improved their record to 3-1 Tuesday night, beating Northern Colorado 10-3 at home.

Sophomore left fielder Boomer White blasted the team’s first home run of the season in the bottom of the third. White led the team with a .314 average last season.

The Frogs had 10 hits and four stolen bases in the win along with eight RBIs.

Junior pitcher Jordan Kipper had a solid debut, striking out eight batters and allowing only three hits and a run in six innings pitched. Kipper transferred from Central Arizona College last year.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third.

Junior center fielder Cody Jones stole second and third base after being hit by a pitch. Jones had three of the Frogs’ four stolen bases in the contest.

White then hit his homer, which gave the Frogs a 2-0 lead.

TCU would score once again in the bottom of the fifth. Jones was once again hit by a pitch and stole second base.

After junior second baseman Connor Castellano was walked and White got hit by a pitch, junior first baseman Kevin Cron drilled a double down the left field line with the bases loaded to put the game at 7-0 TCU.

Cron has hit a double in all three wins for the Frogs this season. Including his double on Tuesday night, Cron had two hits, two runs and two RBIs in the win.

Several errors by TCU in the top of the sixth led to three runs by the Bears but the Frogs had an answer.

Junior third baseman Derek Odell hit a triple to center field, allowing Castellano to score his second run of the night and fourth run of the season. Bears shortstop Ryan Yamane missed the pitcher on the ensuing throw and Odell was able to gain an unearned run, giving TCU a six-run lead.

Both teams had two errors on the night.

Cron would score his second run of the evening off another error by Northern Colorado following a double from freshman pinch hitter Ty Slanina to put the game at the 10-3 final score.

With the win, TCU is 3-1 on the season while Northern Colorado falls to 0-5 overall.

Next up, the Frogs hit the road for the first time all year to compete in the 2014 Kleberg Bank College Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas, where they’ll play Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UTSA and BYU this weekend.

The team will first face off against the Cougars on Friday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT.
