A pair of TCU baseball players earned awards Monday, according to the Big 12’s website.

Third baseman Derek Odell and pitcher Preston Morrison earned Big 12 Player of the Week and Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors, respectively.

Odell, a junior from Canyon, Texas, scored a team-high six runs and averaged .643 on the plate last week. He was also on base 14 out of 20 times and went 7-for-11 in the three-game sweep of West Virginia.

The left-handed batter has 93 hits and 45 runs in his TCU career.

A Waxhaw, N.C., native, Morrison improved to 3-3 on the season pitching a shutout against West Virginia. The junior allowed only one hit in a complete game pitching effort, retiring 17 straight in the win.

Morrison added Big 12 Pitcher of the Week to his already impressive list of records. The right-hander garnered first-team Big 12 honors last season and was the Mountain West Pitcher of the Year in 2012.

The Frogs went 4-0 last week to improve their record to 19-12 overall and 5-4 in the Big 12.
