Jordan Kipper earns Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week honors

Last week, a pair of TCU baseball players earned Big 12 honors. This week, junior pitcher Jordan Kipper can be added to that list.

After throwing a career-high eight innings during the Frogs’ 7-1 win over Dallas Baptist, Kipper earned Big 12 Co-Newcomer of the Week honors, according to a Big 12 press release.

Kipper allowed only one run on four hits and tied a career-high with eight strikeouts during the win. The transfer from Central Arizona College won the award alongside Baylor’s Matt Menard.

Kipper has a 4.46 ERA on the season to along with a 4-2 overall record. He’s also struck out 39 batters this year, which is third-most on the team.

TCU baseball now has at least one award-winner in each category this season.

Junior Brandon Finnegan won Big 12 Pitcher of the Week in the first week of the season. Last week, juniors Preston Morrison and Derek Odell won Big 12 Pitcher of the Week and Big 12 Player of the Week respectively.

The Frogs are 22-13 this season and only two games behind first-place Texas (29-8, 9-3 Big 12) in conference play. They will continue their season Tuesday night against Houston Baptist (16-16, 6-9 Southland).

First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Lupton Stadium.
