Frogs shut out No. 4 Horns, open series with 3-0 win

Stellar pitching by Brandon Finnegan led TCU baseball to a series-opening shutout over the No. 4 Texas Longhorns (30-9, 9-4 Big 12) Thursday night.

Finnegan, a junior left-hander from Fort Worth, threw a season-high 117 pitches in the road win. He struck out 11 Longhorn batters and only allowed four hits.

The win puts TCU within one game of Texas’ first place in the Big 12. The Frogs improve to 24-13 overall and 8-4 in conference this season.

They’ll continue their three-game series with the Longhorns tomorrow at 6 p.m.
