Women’s tennis falls to Texas 4-2

The Horned Frogs will not advance to the Big 12 semifinals.

The No. 22 Longhorns (12-11) defeated TCU’s women’s tennis team (12-12) in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Championships, 4-2.

TCU won the doubles points with a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Mimi Fotopoulos and junior Simona Parajova defeated UT’s Juliana Gajic and Pippa Horn 8-2.

On court one, junior Stefanie Tan and freshman Seda Arantekin defeated Breaunna Addison and Elizabeth Begley, while senior Millie Nicholas and Monika Sirilova fell short to Ratnika Batra and Neda Koprcina 5-4.

The Longhorns led 2-1, when Nichols lost on court six against Lina Padegimaite 6-3, 6-0.

On court two, Parajova defeated Begley 6-3, 6-3 with a 2-2 lead. On court one, No. 38 Tan fell against No. 15 Addison 6-3, 6-3. On court four, freshman Sofiko Kadzhaya lost to UT’s Batra 6-3, 6-4.

The Horned Frogs will have to wait for an invitation to the NCAA Championship first and second rounds, which will be held May 9-11.
