Frogs break Big 12 record, shut out Baylor 5-0

The TCU baseball team broke a Big 12 record for shutouts in a single season Friday night, knocking off Baylor 5-0 to tie the three-game series at 1-1.

Junior right-hander Preston Morrison gave up only three hits in eight innings pitched to help TCU earn its 14th shutout this year. Morrison improved to 8-3 with the road win.

The Frogs are now 37-15 on the season and 16-7 in conference play.

With Oklahoma State’s 2-1 win over Oklahoma, TCU can no longer win a share of the Big 12 title. Friday’s purple and white win secures second place for the Frogs though.

Freshman pitcher Tyler Alexander is expected to make the start Saturday night as TCU closes out its regular season against the Bears. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. from Baylor Ballpark.
