TCU volleyball defeated High Point University in three straight sets (25-20, 25-11, 25-14) to finish 4-0 in the TCU Molten Invitational and improve their overall record to 10-4 on the season.

TCU began the match with many unforced errors, trading point for point with HPU.

Junior Alexia Heist helped swing the momentum of the entire game with a tricky lift instead of a traditional spike.

Heist seemed to help the team find HPU’s weakness as the Horned Frogs utilized the lift a lot in the first set and built on their lead from there.

Senior Mattie Burleson and sophomore Ashley Smith started the second set strongly with crucial kills and blocks to get an early lead against HPU.

Smith also motivated the team with a diving, one-handed hit over the net for a point.

By the third set, High Point looked overmatched and overwhelmed by TCU, with the Horned Frogs exhibiting impressive team efforts on every point.

While the set was closer than the score reflected, TCU always seemed to be in control of the action.

Senior Stephanie Holland had a strong third set, and sophomore Shane Peters continued her recent run of form and dominated defensively.

TCU begins conference play on Wednesday in Lubbock, Texas as they take on Texas Tech. The Horned Frogs will then return home next Friday to take on Iowa State in Fort Worth.
