Saturday’s blowout of SMU must have been enough for poll voters to recognize the potential of the revamped TCU football squad. TCU is ranked 25th in the AP Top 25 Poll.

The Frogs had been receiving votes since the first weekend of the season, but Sunday’s polls were the first to reward their consistent play.

TCU is outscoring its competition by an average of 37.7 points per game and is allowing a mere 218.7 yards per game.

The caliber of TCU’s play is consistent with other teams that have faced the same opponents.

TCU is the only loss of the season for Minnesota (who are also receiving a few votes but no ranking).

No. 6 Texas A&M put up a 58-6 score and No. 10 Baylor also shut out SMU 45-0.

TCU is one of 14 teams in each of the three major polls with an unblemished record. That stat likens the Frogs to powerhouse teams such as Florida State, Oregon, Alabama, whom hold first through third spots respectively.

Another unbeaten team is No. 4 Oklahoma, who TCU will play this upcoming weekend at Amon G. Carter Stadium. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m.
