Trailing 0-2 in the match, TCU volleyball surged back to shock the Jayhawks in five sets, winning 3-2 (19-25, 18-25, 25-20, 25-23, 18-16) Saturday afternoon.

The win was TCU’s first victory over Kansas since the Frogs joined the Big 12 in 2012.

TCU faced three crucial match points in the fifth set, but Sarita Mikals and Mattie Burleson kept the Frogs in the match with a pair of clutch kills.

The Mikals and Burleson duo was able to block the Jayhawks’ last effort to preserve an 18-16 win in the last set of the match.

Sophomore Ashley Smith had 15 kills and 14 digs, while junior Sutton Sunstrum picked up a career and match-high 29 digs against the Jayhawks.

TCU improved to 14-10 (4-6 Big 12) on the year. The Frogs will face Oklahoma at home Wednesday to finish up their four-game homestand. The match against the Sooners will start at 6:30 p.m.
