Weekend sports recap Oct. 31-Nov. 2

Women’s Soccer:

TCU soccer lost a heartbreaker to Iowa State on Friday as Iowa State’s Adalie Schmidt scored with 33 seconds left in the match to beat TCU, 1-0.

The Frogs dropped their last regular season matchup and will begin Big 12 Tournament play in Kansas City on Wednesday against West Virginia.

TCU finishes the regular season with an 8-7-3 record (1-4-3 Big 12).

Cross Country:

The men’s and women’s cross country teams finished last at the Big 12 Championship Saturday in Lawrence, Kansas.

The men’s team finished ninth out of nine, with freshman Matthew Brown finishing with a team-best time of 26:40.0.

The women’s team finished at 10, with freshman Arin Rice leading the team with a time of 22:24.7. Freshman Bailey Sullivan finished less than a second behind Rice with a time of 22:25.2.

Swimming:

The TCU men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams both defeated North Dakota this weekend, while the women’s team lost to Kansas.

The men’s team beat North Dakota 169-126. The women’s team also beat the Fighting Sioux, 231-68, but lost to the Jayhawks 172-124.

TCU posted 17 first-place finishes overall on Saturday.

Equestrian:

No. 8 TCU captured three MOP’s during an 11-7 victory over No. 7 Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon. 

The Frogs improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. TCU will continue its home schedule on Friday, Nov. 14 against No. 2 Kansas State.
