Two top 150 senior aces to join the Frogs in the fall

After TCU volleyball head coach Prentice Lewis announced the signing of National Letters of Intent have signed a pair of outside hitters, Ashleigh Martin and Olivia Canales will join the Horned Frogs in the fall of 2015.

Martin, from McKinney, Texas, and Canales, from Lexington, Ky., were both recognized on Prepvolleyball.com’s “The 150” list of senior aces in the class of 2015.

Martin played at McKinney Boyd High School where, as a sophomore, she helped lead her team to the 2012 5A State Semifinals, while also earning First Team All-District honors in 2013. The 6-foot-1 outside hitter was recognized as best offensive player for McKinney Boyd for four consecutive seasons and was named Academic All-District.

As a member of the USAV High Performance training team in 2013 and 2014, Martin helped the group earn a bronze medal at the USA Youth Team International Tournament in 2013. This helped Martin get named to the Women’s International USAV HP 2014 Championships All-Tournament Team.

As a 6-foot-2 All-State and All-City outside hitter from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, Canales helped lead her squad to the semi-finals of the Kentucky State tournament. In her senior season, Canales collected 258 kills and had a .311 hitting clip. During her high school career, she earned Academic All-State honors and was named to the Class 3-A second-team and MVP of her team.
