Police have re-opened Bellaire Drive North after a gas line leak shut down the surrounding area for about an hour and a half Tuesday morning.

The leak is near the new multi-purpose facility in Worth Hills according to an alert sent out by TCU.

Assistant Director of Resources for the TCU Physical Plant David Mestemaker said in an email at 11:27 a.m. that the road has been cleared and the fire department has left the area.

He said they are still working to complete the repair of the gas line.

The first email regarding the incident was sent to TCU faculty and staff at 10:05 a.m., but students and parents were not notified through the alert system until 10:29 a.m.

Mestemaker said he only has the authority to send out emails to faculty and staff. He said he hoped the information would get to the students through the alert system as quickly as possible.
